Hi, my name is Cara Judea Alhadeff. My new book on climate justice and creative collective action is titled Zazu Dreams: Between the Scarab and the Dung Beetle, A Cautionary Fable for the Anthropocene Era. It’s a story told by Zazu, my son, to his best friend Ari. Through his dreams, Zazu, a biracial multi-ethnic kid, discovers and reclaims his Sephardic and Arab Jewish ethnic heritage during his adventures traveling with his malamute husky across the globe on the back of a humpback whale. With him, you can explore ecological themes, a critique of convenience culture, corporate control, and what to do about it. For cross-generational audiences, Zazu Dreams includes over 40 lush detailed paintings by Zazu’s grandmother, artist Micaela Amato Amateau.
